India: SVD Priest Highlights Christian Values at Interfaith Conference at Bulandpuri Sahib Gurudwara
Bulandpuri Sahib Gurudwara, a well-known Sikh pilgrimage centre in Jalandhar, India, hosted an Interfaith Conference on November 13, commemorating the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj.
Renowned for its long-standing commitment to harmony and community service, the Gurudwara, under the spiritual guidance of Sant Baba Baldev Ji, has been championing a transformative movement titled “Humility, Kindness & Love.” The initiative inspires individuals from diverse faiths to embrace their deeper calling and work collectively towards peace, understanding, and goodwill in society.
The event drew a large and vibrant gathering, representing around 40 different communities. The interfaith dialogue was marked by openness, respect, and shared aspirations, fostering ongoing conversations that strengthen communal harmony.
The conference featured a soulful performance by Sufi singer Akhtar and his team, whose music set a tone of unity and devotion. Several like-minded groups and organizations also joined hands to support and celebrate this noble initiative.
Representatives from multiple religious traditions shared insights rooted in their sacred scriptures. Representing the Christian community, Fr. Norbert Herman, SVD, spoke on core Christian values: the oneness of God, courage and sacrifice for truth, equality of all people, service and compassion, forgiveness, brotherhood, and the enduring belief in the triumph of good over evil.
Other distinguished speakers included Zain Chaudhary from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Geshe Sonam Wangden representing the Buddhist community, and Dr. Swami Sat Preet Ji, each offering profound reflections from their respective traditions. Together, the speakers emphasized the shared responsibility of nurturing the movement of Humility, Kindness & Love.
Events like this at Bulandpuri Sahib Gurudwara highlight its vital role as a spiritual hub that continues to uphold the legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, promoting unity, compassion, and interfaith dialogue in today’s world.
