In a beautiful expression of Christian unity and shared faith, an Ecumenical Lenten Retreat was held on March 23 in Secunderabad, in the southern Indian state of Telangana, bringing together more than 200 faithful from diverse Christian denominations.
Over 2500 Catholics daily attended the annual Lenten retreat for parishioners at Sahaya Matha Church (Our Lady of Sorrows Church), Karaikudi, in the Sivagangai diocese, southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
The annual Lenten Retreat for the Chotanagpur Youth Group in Goa, organized by Arnold Seva Kendra (ASK, Goa) in collaboration with the Chotanagpur Youth Group, was held at the SVD Seminary in Raia, Goa, on April 1.
“We live in a world where we encounter light and darkness. Jesus is the light, and we experience his light in his presence and darkness in the absence of the light,” said Demetrios.
Cardinal Sebastian noted that these acts of penance are also being done by other non-Catholic Asians, especially Hindus, Buddhists, and Muslims, bringing about a unique sense of spiritual unity within the region.
