A seminar on the Catholic Church's role in promoting reconciliation between North and South Korea was held on July 27 at the Church of Repentance and Reconciliation in Uijeongbu, a city in Gyeonggi Province, north of Seoul.

The archbishop of Seoul expressed concern over North Korea’s decision to cut off road and rail access to
South Korea with the aim of “completely separating” the two countries.

In a televised interview on August 26, he said he "would not turn down a chance to visit and work for peace," reports AFP news agency.

For the 20th straight year, North Korea topped 50 countries where Christians face the most persecution and discrimination for their faith.
