Archdiocese of Karachi Inspires Youth in Scripture and Faith through Inter-Parish Bible Quiz

Around 100 Catholic students from across Karachi Archdiocese participated in the Inter-Parish Bible Quiz 2026, hosted by Vita Nova on October 24.

Around 100 young Catholic students from across the Archdiocese of Karachi, southern Pakistan, gathered on October 24, 2026, to demonstrate their knowledge of Scripture and Christian fellowship as Vita Nova, the youth group of St. Lawrence’s Parish in Karachi, hosted the Inter-Parish Bible Quiz 2026.

The competition brought together seven youth teams representing St. Patrick’s Parish, Christ the King Parish, and St. Lawrence’s Parish for an engaging dedicated to faith-building, biblical study, and community learning.

Following a welcome address and opening prayer by Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Irfan Wilson, the organizers introduced the competition rules and format. Fr. Irfan also highlighted essential moral and healthy guidelines for the participants, emphasizing fair play, mutual respect, emotional discipline, and a spirit of joyful sportsmanship throughout the contest.

He reminded the youth that genuine Christian leadership rests on humility, integrity, and supporting one another, encouraging them to view the event not merely as a test of knowledge, but as an opportunity to build character.

Furthermore, he urged all participants to nurture healthy study habits and mental well-being, grounding their competitive drive in fraternal love and mutual encouragement.

Led by Quiz Master Ashley D’Souza, the competition featured three distinct rounds, Kick-Off, Multiple Questions, and Rapid Fire. A judging panel comprising Fr. Afzal Ghulam, Br. Karam OP, and Ms. Valerie Nicholas evaluated the participants throughout the event.

Addressing the gathering on behalf of the judging panel, Fr. Afzal Ghulam praised the youth for their eagerness to study and apply biblical teachings to their daily lives.

He emphasized that engaging deeply with Scripture equips young people to navigate modern challenges with clarity, compassion, and unwavering faith. Fr. Afzal noted that seeing the youth immerse themselves in the Gospel gives great hope for the future of the Church in Pakistan, as they are not just learners of the Word, but active torchbearers of its message.

The event also incorporated a lively audience round, giving parishioners in attendance the opportunity to participate and win gifts.

St. Patrick’s Parish (Team C) took top honors in the contest, followed by Christ the King Parish (Team C) in second and St. Patrick’s Parish (Team A) in third, with all participants receiving certificates of appreciation.

Expressing their gratitude, the student participants shared that preparing for the competition deepened their love for Scripture, reaffirming their shared commitment to living out the teachings of the Bible as young witnesses of Christ in their daily lives.

The event concluded with a closing prayer and final blessing from Fr. Ryan Joseph, Parish Priest of St. Lawrence’s Parish, who thanked the participants, parents, and the Vita Nova organizing team for bringing the community together to celebrate the Word of God.

Encouraging the young contestants, Fr. Ryan reminded them that carrying the light of the Gospel in their daily actions is far more important than winning any trophy, urging them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of wisdom, truth, and faith.
