Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Bonpara, located in the Diocese of Rajshahi in northwestern Bangladesh, celebrated the Solemnity of Christ the King with great devotion and a Eucharistic procession on November 23, drawing a large number of faithful.

The celebration was marked by deep faith and enthusiasm as the congregation sang in unison, “We adore You, O Christ the King; we adore You, the Holy Son of God,” filling the church and the procession route with reverence and spiritual joy.

Parish Priest Fr. Dilip S. Costa presided over the Holy Eucharist. In his homily, he reflected on the historical context of the solemnity: “This feast emphasizes the true kingship of Christ, especially in the instability caused by the First World War and the fall of the four major monarchies of Europe.”

He added, “This feast has become a universal celebration, arising as a response to the growing influence of atheism and secularism. Jesus did not establish His Kingdom through worldly power, but through love, forgiveness, service, and justice, revealing a glorious Kingdom of peace.”

Sharing his personal reflection, participant Luke Gomes said, “The true Kingdom of Christ resides in the human heart. His Kingdom is a Kingdom of love. To express the fullness of this love, He emptied Himself and sacrificed His life on the Cross. It is on the Cross that the true identity of Christ the King is revealed.”

Another parishioner commented, “Christ the King has shown us the path of service, forgiveness, and love. He is the perfect model of humility. Though He is the Son of God and Lord of heaven and earth, He forgave sinners and offered an extraordinary example. It is the sincere desire of Christ, King of the Universe, that we love one another and remain in His love.”

The parish marked the day with a solemn morning Mass followed by a graceful Eucharistic procession in the afternoon, making the celebration both spiritually enriching and dignified.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
