Around 320 Catholic youth from 10 parishes gathered for the Tura Zone Youth Convention held from July 3–5, 2026, at Dadenggre in the Diocese of Tura, located in the northeastern Indian state of Meghalaya.

Organized by the Tura Diocesan Catholic Youth Movement, the three-day convention carried the theme “Sakki,” meaning “Witness.” The gathering provided young people an opportunity to deepen their faith, strengthen fellowship, and reflect on their role as witnesses of Christ in today’s world.

The convention was inaugurated by Fr. Sylvester M. Sangma, Zonal Animator, who served as the chief guest. Reflecting on the theme, he emphasized that faith is not only something to be spoken about but something to be lived.

“Witness reminds us that faith is not just to be spoken, but to be lived. Every youth should be a witness of the love, kindness, and compassion of Christ, especially in a society where these values are increasingly needed,” he said.

Sessions, competitions, and interactive activities were held throughout the convention to support the spiritual, intellectual, and social development of the participants.

Sessions included reflections on becoming authentic witnesses of Christ through words and actions, the vocation and responsibilities of Catholic youth in building Christ-centered families, and the responsible use of social media as a tool for evangelization and personal growth.

A special Rosary procession was also held during the convention, with prayers offered for peace in the world and for those unable to participate in the gathering.

“I thank all the core team members for their dedication and support in helping us organize this program successfully,” said Mr. Brinting M. Sangma, former Zonal President.

A youth participant shared that the session on social media was particularly meaningful. “We learned how to use our phones to witness Christ instead of wasting time,” the participant said.

The convention also marked the conclusion of the term of the outgoing Tura Zone office bearers and the election of new leaders for the 2026–2028 term. The participants concluded the gathering with a commitment to work together with zeal and dedication for the growth of youth ministry in the Diocese of Tura.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
