CBCMSB Social Communication Commission Meets in Brunei
The Episcopal Regional Commission for Social Communication (ERCSC) of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei (CBCMSB) convened its Annual General Meeting and Formation Session from June 23 to 27, 2025, at the Church of Our Lady of Assumption in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.
The week-long gathering brought together communication delegates and media practitioners from across the region for strategic planning, collaborative dialogue, and pastoral formation.
Key sessions focused on strengthening diocesan media ministries, embracing digital evangelization, and addressing the ethical use of emerging technologies in Church communication.
Workshops and presentations included a rich mix of theological reflection, technical skills enhancement, and group discussions—all aimed at promoting synodal communication and mission-focused collaboration.
FABC officials were also present at the conference. Fr. Clarence Devadass, Executive Secretary of the FABC Commission for Synodality, offered a session on the role of artificial intelligence in Church communication, while Fr. John Mi Shen, Executive Secretary of FABC-OSC, shared insights and reflections on communication and theology.
This year’s ERCSC meeting not only reaffirmed the vital role of Catholic media in the life of the Church but also deepened regional bonds of communion among communicators.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
