China: Guizhou Diocese Joyfully Welcomes Four New Priests

Four deacons of the Diocese of Guizhou are ordained priests at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral in Guiyang, China on November 21, 2025.

The Catholic Diocese of Guizhou in southwestern China celebrated a moment of great joy on November 21, 2025, as four deacons were ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary (Beitang) in Guiyang.

According to Faith Press, the newly ordained priests are Fr. Paul Xu Chao, Fr. Dado Zhang Jing, Fr. Joseph Liang Shixing, and Fr. Luke Lu Shaobo, who received the Sacrament of Holy Orders during a solemn and prayerful liturgy.

The Ordination Mass was presided over by Bishop Xiao Zejiang of Guizhou, with Bishop Meng Ningyou of Taiyuan, who preached the deacons’ pre-ordination retreat,  concelebrating the Eucharist.

Nearly 800 faithful, including priests, religious, and lay representatives from across the diocese, gathered to witness the momentous event, Faith Press reported.

The ceremony was marked by deep reverence and a spirit of unity. Offering words of gratitude, newly ordained Fr. Xu Chao expressed his resolve to remain faithful to God’s call: “On the path of priesthood, I will rely wholeheartedly on God’s grace, never give up, remain humble in service, and bear witness to the Lord’s love.”

The ordinations bring renewed hope and strength to the growing Catholic community in Guizhou.
