East Timor: Archdiocese of Díli holds pastoral assembly
The Archdiocese of Díli in East Timor held a pastoral assembly at the Ecclesiastical Chamber Hall on June 10.
The agenda for the first pastoral assembly was presented by the Centenary Strategic Pastoral Plan team: catechetical, liturgical, sectoral, and ecclesiastical government pastoral plans.
The assembly included delegates from parish pastoral councils, religious superiors, directors and principals of Catholic schools, and chaplains from various institutions.
Cardinal Virgilio do Carmo da Silva, SDB, Archbishop of Dili, chaired the sessions.
The pastoral assembly is considered a crucial step in devising innovative ways to enhance the archdiocese's pastoral needs and address challenges.
About 97.3% of the population is Catholic, making Timor-Leste the second most Catholic country in Asia after the Philippines since gaining independence from Indonesia. The nation is made up of two dioceses, Maliana and Baucau, and one archdiocese of Dili.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
