Formation Institute in Philippines Strengthens Leadership Development Through Personal Accompaniment

At the Institute of Formation Fondacio Asia (IFFAsia), equal emphasis is placed on personal growth, self-awareness, and the integration of faith into daily life.

The Institute of Formation Fondacio Asia (IFFAsia), a leadership and formation institute based in Quezon City in the Philippines, continues to strengthen its formation program through personal accompaniment, spiritual direction, and community living for young leaders from across Asia.

IFFAsia, the principal formation center of Fondacio Asia, currently hosts Batch 17 participants, who are undergoing a year-long program designed to develop leadership skills, spiritual maturity, and social responsibility.

According to the institute, academic learning forms only one component of its formation model. Equal emphasis is placed on personal growth, self-awareness, and the integration of faith into daily life.

A key feature of the program is regular personal accompaniment, facilitated by the IFFAsia Formation Team. At least once a month, participants meet with trained formators to review their progress, discuss personal challenges, and reflect on their ongoing formation journey.

The accompaniment process aims to provide participants with a structured environment in which they can evaluate their growth, identify strengths and weaknesses, and deepen their understanding of their vocation and leadership potential.

Participants are encouraged to engage openly with their companions, fostering relationships built on trust and mutual accountability.

IFFAsia integrates accompaniment with several other formation tools. These include a Personal Development Plan that helps participants set and assess goals related to leadership, character formation, and personal growth.

The institute also offers spiritual direction, enabling participants to deepen their relationship with God and discern how faith shapes their personal and professional lives.

Recognizing that intensive formation can also bring emotional and psychological challenges, IFFAsia incorporates professional counseling services into its program. These services assist participants in addressing personal difficulties and developing healthier ways of thinking, relating, and responding to life's challenges.

At least once a month, participants meet with trained formators to review their progress, discuss personal challenges, and reflect on their ongoing formation journey.

Formation at the institute extends beyond classrooms and individual sessions into community life. Participants live together and share responsibilities, including household duties, community service, prayer, and environmental activities.

Institute leaders say these experiences provide opportunities for participants to put into practice the values discussed during accompaniment sessions, including cooperation, responsibility, respect for others, and concern for the common good.

Through this integrated approach, IFFAsia seeks to prepare young leaders capable of contributing to their communities, churches, and societies across Asia.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
