India: 31 Young Communicators Train in AI, Digital Content Creation in Indore
Thirty-one young communicators from different Indian states are attending a week-long workshop on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital content creation in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, central India, to develop skills for promoting social harmony through digital media.
The October 18–24 training program, themed “Digital Ambassadors for Social Harmony,” is organized by Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra, the regional Catholic communications center of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) in Indore.
The program opened with a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Michael Charian SVD, director of Satprakashan Sanchar Kendra. In his homily, he encouraged participants to become authentic witnesses of Christ in digital spaces and use social media responsibly to promote truth, hope and human dignity.
In his inaugural address, Fr. Anthony Swamy SVD, coordinator of Radio Veritas Asia’s Hindi Service, emphasized the importance of acquiring practical skills in emerging communication technologies.
“Every piece of content shared online has the potential to influence society. Therefore, it is essential to create content that fosters peace, positivity, and constructive dialogue,” he said.
The workshop covers graphic design, creative content creation, communication and writing skills, media production, awareness campaigns, camera operation, photography, videography and AI tools. Participants are also learning to use AI-based design platforms, including Canva, through practical exercises alongside theoretical sessions.
The training explores how AI can support creativity and improve the content creation process while maintaining professional standards.
Trainers include Fr. Babu Joseph SVD and AI trainer Harneet Singh from Delhi; Fr. Anthony Swamy SVD, a digital media trainer based in Indore; Sumit Dhanraj, a communication and writing skills trainer from Mhow; and Fr. Thomas Anthony, a photography and videography trainer from Jabalpur.
The organizers aim to prepare participants to serve as digital ambassadors in their dioceses and communities, using communication technologies to encourage constructive dialogue and positive social change while sharing the Gospel.
The seven-day program will conclude on October 24, when participants will receive certificates of completion
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
