India: Holy Family Convent in Goa Marks 91st Foundation Anniversary

Holy Family Convent in Sancoale, Goa, celebrated its 91st Foundation Anniversary with a Eucharistic celebration on June 16, 2026.

The Holy Family Convent in Sancoale, in the western Indian state of Goa, marked its 91st Foundation Anniversary on June 16 with a Eucharistic celebration and community gathering.

The Mass was presided over by Fr. Rex Fernandes, SFX, who reflected on the importance of remaining rooted in Christ and living out the values of religious life.

In his homily, Fr. Fernandes invited the congregation to reflect on their relationship with Jesus and the meaning of discipleship. Drawing inspiration from the life of the congregation’s founder, he highlighted the importance of prayer, community life, and witness through service.

He emphasized that prayer should lead individuals to seek and follow God's will rather than personal ambitions. Referring to the founder's example, he said a life of prayer fosters love, concern for others, and fidelity to one's vocation.

Fr. Fernandes also spoke about the importance of healthy community life, noting that unity and mutual respect are essential for the growth and mission of a religious community.

He encouraged the sisters to be witnesses through their lives and ministries, reaching out to others with openness and compassion while remaining faithful to the Gospel.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the community paid tribute to the congregation's founder with a garlanding ceremony at the founder's bust.

The occasion also marked the release of the latest issue of Savera, the congregation's publication.

The anniversary celebrations concluded with a community gathering and the cutting of a commemorative cake.

Religious sisters from different communities participated in the celebrations at the congregation's motherhouse, joining in prayer and fellowship as the Holy Family Convent entered its 92nd year of service.
