Manipur Catholic Youth Organization Launches Website After Four-Day Mega Retreat

Around 200 Catholic youths attended a four-day Mega Youth Retreat at St. Paul’s Retreat House in Imphal, Manipur, northeastern India, from October 16 to 19, under the theme “Come Away and Rest a While.”

The Manipur Catholic Youth Organization (MCYO) launched its first website on October 19, providing Catholic youth in the northeastern Indian state of Manipur with a digital platform for educational opportunities, employment networking, youth activities, and other resources.

Archbishop Linus Neli of Imphal launched the website at the conclusion of a four-day Mega Youth Retreat attended by around 200 Catholic youths from October 16 to 19 at St. Paul’s Retreat House in Mantripukhri, near Imphal, the state capital.

The initiative aims to strengthen connections among Catholic youth across the Archdiocese of Imphal and expand the organization’s outreach through digital communication.

The retreat, organized under the theme “Come Away and Rest a While,” focused on deepening the participants’ faith, strengthening their relationship with Christ, and encouraging their involvement in the Church’s mission.

Fr. Thomas Arackal preached the retreat, leading spiritual reflections on Christian faith, discipleship, and commitment to Christ. Participants from different MCYO units also took part in prayer, fellowship, sharing, and other activities aimed at spiritual growth.

Fr. Jacob Darsongam, MCYO director, and Sr. Mariyam Chothe Khiyang, MSMHC, youth animator, accompanied the participants throughout the retreat, encouraging their spiritual development and active participation in the life of the Church.

The website is intended to serve as a central resource for young people, connecting them with information on education, employment opportunities, youth programs, and other services supporting their personal and professional development. The organization is also considering expanding the platform’s services to other areas of youth welfare, potentially including a matrimonial platform.

Marcus Leikhulshim Maring, MCYO sports secretary and an officer trainee of the Manipur Civil Service, spearheaded the website initiative. His professional experience includes previous service as an assistant commandant in the Central Armed Police Forces and as deputy director of the Sports Authority of India.

The website launch took place in the presence of Archbishop Neli, Fr. Darsongam, and retreat participants.

The combined initiative reflects the organization’s efforts to support young people through spiritual formation and practical resources, linking faith development with access to opportunities and greater participation in the Church’s mission.

The Mega Youth Retreat concluded with a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Neli on October 19.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
