In a novel initiative, a parish in the Northeast of India launched local catechism boards to serve remote villages. Father Mung, the parish priest of St. Mary’s church in Tuibong, blessed catechism classrooms in a village church unit of San Thome Church in Manipur on March 5.
On February 6, Archbishop Dominic Lumon of Imphal raised a mission centre to a parish church in Joldam, Khengjoy Block of Chandel District in Manipur, in eastern India. The archbishop handed over the parish to the Congregation of the Mission (CM).
The Election Commission has changed the polling dates for India’s Manipur State after strong protests from the Christian and tribal communities. The Commission had first scheduled February 7, a Sunday, as one of the polling dates, drawing opposition from Christian leaders of all denominations.
