The Diocese of Antipolo in the Philippines is set to hold a weekly Holy Hour with the intention of peace in the world, particularly for the Middle East and many other regions caught in political and armed conflict.

In this pastoral letter, Antipolo Bishop Ruperto Santo said that, despite being geographically distant from “battle-scarred places,” it is the duty of Christians to remain connected to the global Body of Christ.

“With each new headline, we are confronted not only by the wounds of war but by the quiet cries of the innocent: families torn apart, children displaced, and communities silenced by fear… We cannot remain unmoved,” he wrote.

Bishop Santos has instructed all parishes, chapels, religious communities, and lay associations to pray the Holy Hour every Thursday afternoon, preferably after the 5 o’clock Mass, starting June 26.

The prelate appeals to the clergy and the faithful to come together before the Lord “as a sign of [the] Church’s unwavering trust in divine mercy.”

“Let our prayers rise like incense for those who suffer, for leaders tasked with difficult decisions, and for a world in need of reconciliation,” said Bishop Santos.

The prelate also entrusted this weekly effort to the Virgin of Antipolo, the diocese’s patroness.

“May she, who once journeyed in hope through uncertain lands, accompany those now displaced by war and bring our petitions safely to her Son,” he said.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
