Philippines: Davao to Host 3,000 Delegates for Divine Mercy Congress

Some three thousand delegates from dioceses across the country are expected to arrive in Davao City beginning August 27, 2025, for the three-day Philippine Apostolic Congress on Mercy (PACOM 2025).

The event coincides with the closing days of Davao City’s famed Kadayawan Festival. While the main festivities will be winding down, visitors can still enjoy traditional crafts, exotic flowers, and abundant fruits around Magsaysay Park. The annual Kadayawan Festival is a thanksgiving celebration for the bountiful harvest of fruits and flowers and honors the culture and traditions of Davao City’s 11 indigenous tribes.

Against this vibrant cultural backdrop, Divine Mercy Philippines Mindanao will welcome delegates to PACOM 2025 with the theme, “Divine Mercy Our Hope, Embracing God’s Merciful Love.”

The three-day congress, set for August 27–30, 2025, is packed with theological teachings on the Divine Mercy devotion delivered by ranking clergy and prominent Divine Mercy missionaries. Lay participants will share personal testimonies, offering a lived witness to the faith.

According to a social media post by the Mindanao Lay Coordinator of Divine Mercy Philippines, Day 1 will open with prayers and veneration led by Rev. Fr. Prospero V. Tenorio, Secretary General of the World Apostolic Congress on Mercy Asia and National Spiritual Director of Divine Mercy Philippines.

Speakers will include Bishop Valentin Dimoc of the Apostolic Vicariate of Bontoc-Lagawe; Fr. James Cervantes, MIC, Director of Marian Helpers of the Philippines; Fr. Joel de Los Reyes, Spiritual Director of the Divine Mercy Apostolate in Guam; Bishop Gerardo Alminaza of San Carlos, Negros Occidental; and Bishop Elmer Mangalinao of Bayombong.

Day 2 will feature two panel discussions. The first will focus on the topic of forgiveness, with panelists Fr. Ronaldo Galvan of the Diocese of Kidapawan and Fr. Victor Jay Licuanas of the Diocese of Digos, moderated by Ms. Aida Manasan, host of the YouTube program At the Hour of Three.

The second panel will explore the impact of Divine Mercy on young people’s lives, with youth representatives from the dioceses of Baguio, Davao, and Marbel (Cotabato) joining the discussion. Fr. Amado B. Arroyo, Spiritual Director of the Divine Mercy Apostolate of the Diocese of Davao, will serve as facilitator.

Bishop Patricio Buzon, SDB, of Bacolod will speak on The Healing Waters of Mercy. Davao Archbishop Romulo G. Valles will celebrate Mass on Day 1, while Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, Bishop Emeritus of Cotabato, will preside over the concluding Mass of the congress.
