Philippines: RVA Launches Novena to Three Saints, Renews Evangelizing Mission
Following the inauguration of its newly renovated chapel last month, the Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) central office in Quezon City, Philippines, has launched a novena to the Three Saints beginning May 5.
On April 12, Divine Mercy Sunday, more than 200 faithful attended the dedication of the RVA chapel by Bishop Elias L. Ayuban Jr. of the Diocese of Cubao. The chapel was dedicated in honor of St. Paul VI, St. John Paul II, and St. Mother Teresa; all three visited the RVA central office during their lifetimes.
The first novena Mass on May 5 was presided over by Fr. Felmar Fiel, SVD, RVA general manager, together with Fr. Mi Shen and other concelebrating priests.
In his homily, Fr. Fiel reflected on the witness of the three saints. He recalled how Paul VI continued his mission after surviving an assassination attempt during his 1970 visit to the Philippines. He also cited John Paul II’s forgiveness of his attacker and Mother Teresa’s service to the poor in fidelity to Christ.
Quoting the Gospel, “Whoever loves me will keep my word,” Fr. Fiel said love for Christ is expressed through obedience to his teachings. He also underscored the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding both spiritual life and daily decisions, sharing a personal account of discernment during his seminary application.
“The Spirit is not only present in moments of prayer, but also in the ordinary struggles of life,” he said, urging the faithful to remain open to God’s guidance.
RVA also announced that a novena to the Three Saints will now be prayed every Monday at the chapel, followed by a Mass.
The newly renovated Three Saints Chapel serves as a center for prayer and reflection, supporting RVA’s evangelizing work across Asia.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
