Vietnamese Catholic Migrant Association in Bangkok Marks the Solemnity of the Assumption

In joyful gratitude to Mary, who always accompanies and protects her children abroad, the Vietnamese Catholic Migrant Association celebrated the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Assumption at Saint Peter's Chair Church, Phasi Charoen, Bangkok, Thailand, on August 17.
Bishop Peter Lê Tấn Lợi of the Diocese of Cần Thơ and chairman of the Committee for Migrants Ministry of the Vietnamese Episcopal Council presided over the Mass.
The bishop’s presence was considered a tremendous honor and a source of divine encouragement for the Vietnamese migrant community in Thailand. Before the Mass, he spent time meeting and conversing with migrant brothers and sisters as a gesture of affection and closeness.

Along with priests and nuns, a large number of Vietnamese Catholic migrants took part in the celebration.
“We thanked God together, paid tribute to the Virgin Mary, and strengthened the harmony in the large Vietnamese Catholic family in Thailand,” said one participant.
“It was a full house,” added Divine Word Father Anthony Le Duc, who has been in Thailand for more than 18 years. He was one of the organizers, ministering to the Vietnamese Catholic community while also serving as a university lecturer.
Every August, the Vietnamese Catholic Migrant Association in Thailand organises a celebration of the Assumption of Mary, not only to pray to the Virgin but also to instil a sense of unity and community among Vietnamese migrants living in Thailand.
