Tens of thousands of Vietnamese Catholics made their way to the Marian Shrine of La Vang, in the Archdiocese of Huế, central Vietnam, for the annual pilgrimage held on August 14 and 15, marking the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In joyful gratitude to Mary, who always accompanies and protects her children abroad, the Vietnamese Catholic Migrant Association celebrated the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Assumption at Saint Peter's Chair Church, Phasi Charoen, Bangkok, Thailand, on August 17.

The Catholic Church in Vietnam has welcomed the decision of the National Assembly to lift the capital punishment for eight crimes, including embezzlement and activities to overthrow the government.
