Vietnamese Youth Share Faith Through Video Series Following Priest’s Beatification

Led by Catholic Design, young Vietnamese Catholics use digital media to share their faith and honor Blessed Francis Xavier Truong Buu Diep.

Young Vietnamese Catholics from across the country and overseas are using digital media to share their faith and reflect on the life and witness of Blessed Francis Xavier Truong Buu Diep, who was beatified on July 2, 2026.

The initiative, led by Catholic Design, has brought together young Catholics from all 27 dioceses in Vietnam as well as Vietnamese communities living, studying and working abroad.

Catholic Design is a vibrant creative youth community of the Vietnamese Catholic Church, dedicated to digital evangelization.

Through a series of videos, participants share their reflections, prayers and personal experiences related to Blessed Diep, using digital platforms to connect young Catholics across geographical boundaries.

The videos can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEDjWnHyjCI; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7hDfhcbgUs

Blessed Diep, a Vietnamese diocesan priest who served Catholics in southern Vietnam, is remembered for his dedication to his parishioners and his willingness to remain with his people during a time of conflict. His beatification on July 2 marked a significant moment for Catholics in Vietnam and has renewed interest among young people in his life and witness.

The video project seeks to help young Catholics reflect on the meaning of his witness in their own lives. Rather than simply recounting his history, the participants use their own stories and contemporary forms of communication to express how his example speaks to their faith today.

The initiative also encourages young Catholics to see themselves as missionary disciples and to live their Christian faith in everyday situations.

Organizers highlighted the importance of bringing Gospel values into daily life, including studies, work, relationships, service to people in need and interactions on digital platforms. They encouraged young people to use social media responsibly and as a means of sharing messages of hope, faith and Christian service.

The participation of young Catholics from Vietnam’s 27 dioceses, together with Vietnamese communities overseas, has given the project a broad reach and demonstrated the ability of digital media to connect Catholics across countries and communities.

The initiative comes amid growing efforts by the Church in Asia to engage young people in the digital environment, where social media has become an important part of communication and community life.

For the young participants, the video series provides an opportunity to reflect on Blessed Diep’s witness while expressing their own faith in contemporary language and through media familiar to their generation.

The project also illustrates how the witness of a newly beatified Vietnamese priest can continue to inspire young Catholics beyond the celebration of his beatification, connecting the Church’s faith heritage with the digital lives of a new generation.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
