India: After 60 years, parish in Manipur state opens PPC office

After 60 years of St. Joseph's Parish establishment, the Catholic community of Sugnu in Manipur State, northeastern India, joyfully inaugurated Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) office on May 27.

Father Victor Arulappan, the parish priest took the initiative to establish the PPC office.

It is part of the empowerment of the laity in the service of God, he said. 

The Catholic community of Sugnu appreciated the parish priest’s initiative.

St. Joseph Parish at Sugnu is one of the oldest Catholic churches in the Archdiocese of Imphal, Manipur.

Most of the speakers talked about the drastic infrastructural changes and development in the parish and St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School under the leadership of the present Father Victor and Sister Maria Nubawi, the headmistress of the school. 

The parishioners present on the occasion said they would continue to support and co-operate with the parish priest in all his endeavors.

Some parishioners, institutions, and various commercial centers contributed financially, including Anna Neng, Pa Bosco Paosei (president KCUM), D. Bethany Local church, Parish Women’s Society, Christ the King Church, St. Albert Local Church, and Teiyang local church. – RVA Zo
