Bread Of Life (Part 2 of 4)

Reflection Date: April 22, 2026 | Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 8:1b-8; John 6:35-40

Children of God:
The early Church experienced intense persecution that scattered believers across different regions.

But, good news!

That sort of tragedy became a turning point for the spread of the Gospel.

Instead of silencing the message, it carried it farther.

One of those who stepped forward was Philip the Deacon, one of the first deacons chosen by the apostles.

He went to Samaria, a place often looked down upon by many Jews.

Despite the hardships, he preached boldly and brought the message of Christ to new people.

Many listened, believed, and experienced healing and hope.

Church did not collapse under pressure; it expanded.

This goes to show that God used even painful circumstances to accomplish something greater.

In the gospel of John, Jesus spoke to the people about being the bread of life.

He assured them that those who come to him will never hunger and that he will never reject those who believe.

His words pointed to a deeper security that goes beyond changing circumstances.

What are our inspirations for today?

First, God does not abandon us even when life becomes difficult.

The early Christians faced rejection and fear, yet they continued to trust in God.

Their faith did not depend on comfort but on the presence of Christ in their lives.

Even when they were scattered, they carried their faith with them.

This showed that no matter the situation, Christ remains faithful to those who seek him.

In our lives, we also encounter moments of struggle and uncertainty.

There are times when things do not go as planned.

Yet the promise of Christ remains steady.

He does not turn us away.

He stays with us, offering strength and assurance even in our weakest moments.

Second, God can use our struggles to lead us toward something greater.

The persecution that scattered the early Christians became the reason the Gospel spread beyond its original place.

In our own experiences, struggles can become opportunities for growth and mission.

They can deepen our faith and open doors we never expected.

When we trust God, even painful moments can be transformed into something meaningful and life-giving.

We can reflect on these questions in our hearts. How do I respond when I face difficulties or setbacks in life?

Do I believe that God remains with me even in those moments? And can I trust that my struggles may lead to something greater in God’s plan?

Children of God:
The journey of the early Church reminds us that faith is not limited by circumstances.

Even in hardship, God continues to work. Jesus, the bread of life, offers a stability that the world cannot give.

When we come to him, we find strength that endures beyond challenges.

Our struggles do not define us.

Instead, they can become the beginning of something new.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
