The World Today Needs Trustworthy Leaders!

August 13, 2025 Wednesday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Deuteronomy 34:1-12; Matthew 18:15-20
Atop Mount Nebo, Moses sees the Promised Land, the land God vowed to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Though he cannot enter it, Moses is content. After his death, Israel mourns him for thirty days. Yet leadership transitions smoothly to Joshua, a man filled with the spirit of wisdom, prepared and blessed by Moses. Scripture affirms that no prophet in Israel has arisen like Moses, who knew the Lord face to face and worked mighty wonders in Egypt.
In the Gospel, Jesus addresses reconciliation within the community. When someone sins, begin privately: “When the two of you are alone” (Mt 18:15). If needed, involve witnesses, and finally, the Church. Persistent refusal results in separation, like a Gentile or tax collector, symbolizing broken fellowship. Still, Jesus assures that when two or three gather in His name, He is truly present. The community, united in humility and prayer, reflects His reconciling presence.
Call to Action: True leadership is rooted in humility and wisdom, and so is forgiveness. When others seek pardon, let us not withhold mercy, for we too will one day plead before God’s throne of grace.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
