Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão has been re-elected as the President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), while Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore has been elected as the Vice President and Archbishop Vincent Aind of Ranchi as Secretary General.

On December 5, in a press statement, Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore strongly condemned the defacement of the statue of revered Lingayat seer Shivakumar Swami, calling the act “baseless and reprehensible.”

At an event, the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) launched a set of 115 school textbooks, along with electives/non-core curriculum books, for the Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations schools.

Archbishop Machado offered all-around assistance and said Bengaluru is an excellent place for education, and the Manipur youth could stay in free hostels and continue their education in the diocesan and religious educational institutions in Bengaluru.
