Auxiliary Bishop Timothy Yu Kyung-chon of the Archdiocese of Seoul passed away on August 15 after nearly two years of battling stage two bile duct cancer. He was 63.

“In two weeks’ time, God willing, I will leave for my 41st pilgrimage, to visit Hungary, Marseille, then Mongolia,” Francis said.

Missionaries of Mongolia welcomed Pope Francis’ appointment of Bishop Giorgio Marengo as a new cardinal along with 20 others around the globe.

Bishop Joseph Ma Zhongmu, emeritus bishop of the Diocese of Ningxia, died at the age of 101 on March 25.
