St. Peter’s Square became a place of joy and history on Sept 7 as Pope Leo XIV canonized two young men whose lives continue to inspire today’s Catholics: Pier Giorgio Frassati, remembered as the “man of the Beatitudes” and patron of young lay Catholics, and Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint, often called “God’s influencer.”

Pope Leo XIV has officially announced that Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be canonized together on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pope Francis announced on Wednesday, November 20, during his weekly general audience in St. Peter’s Square, coinciding with World Children’s Day, that Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, two young Catholics known for their vibrant faith and holiness, will be canonized during major Jubilee events in 2025.
