Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, Apostolic Vicar of Phnom Penh, called on the faithful to follow the example of Blessed Carlo Acutis during the solemn blessing of a new altar at St. Michael’s Parish in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, marking the church’s 60th anniversary on June 7.

The canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis, who is set to become the first millennial saint, has been deferred following the death of Pope Francis on April 21, the Vatican said.

Pope Francis announced on Wednesday, November 20, during his weekly general audience in St. Peter’s Square, coinciding with World Children’s Day, that Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, two young Catholics known for their vibrant faith and holiness, will be canonized during major Jubilee events in 2025.

The first millennial saint, Carlo Acutis, with 14 other blessed will be canonized, according to the College of Cardinals who formalized the approval in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace for an Ordinary Public Consistory on Monday morning.

Pope Francis will lead at an Ordinary Public Consistory on July 1, when Cardinals who are in Rome are set to approve the canonization of 15 Blesseds, according to Vatican News.
