An Israeli airstrike struck al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City on Sunday, killing at least seven people, according to local health officials. As Vatican News reports, the attack comes amid ongoing military operations and renewed plans to relocate more than a million Palestinians from northern Gaza to designated areas in the south.

The Israeli military insists the relocation is intended to protect civilians in zones away from combat. However, humanitarian agencies and rights groups caution that the so-called “concentration areas” in the south are already overcrowded, under-resourced, and remain exposed to further bombardments.

The hospital strike has intensified concern for Gaza’s fragile medical infrastructure, which is struggling to cope with mounting casualties. Witnesses described scenes of panic and devastation as emergency crews searched for survivors under the rubble.

Meanwhile, as reported by Vatican News, discontent is also rising in Israel. Thousands of Israelis rallied in Tel Aviv over the weekend, demanding an end to the war and pressing for the safe return of hostages held by Hamas. On Monday, a one-day general strike was launched to protest government plans to seize Gaza City, with families of hostages warning that further escalation endangers the lives of their loved ones.

The incident at al-Ahli and the broader displacement crisis continue to draw international calls for restraint and renewed appeals for the protection of civilians.
