The Archdiocese of Dhaka celebrated Youth Day in the Jubilee Year with a four-day program at Ramna Cathedral from September 27 to 30. The gathering, held under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope, Youth Building a World of Justice and Peace,” brought together around 400 young men and women from various parishes, joined by priests, sisters, and lay leaders.

The celebration aimed to nurture the mental, spiritual, moral, and ethical values of young people while inspiring them to embrace their vocation as builders of justice and peace. The program included a range of activities such as a youth rally, animations, creative presentations, catechetical sessions, group work, open discussions, the Way of the Cross, and a Festival of Light.

On the opening day, Archbishop Bejoy N. D’Cruze, OMI, of Dhaka presided over the Eucharistic celebration. In his homily, he encouraged the youth “to become beacons of justice and peace by practicing these values in their daily lives.”

The first keynote was delivered by Father Stanley Costa, who reflected on the theme of the gathering. “In this Jubilee Year, we are all on a spiritual journey as pilgrims of hope,” he said, urging participants to place their trust in Christ as the source of lasting strength and joy.

Practical guidance was also offered during the sessions. Mr. Tony Michael Gomes spoke on career planning and public relations, reminding the youth that “before you can arrange your life beautifully, you must first build yourself properly. Value your time, acquire knowledge, and use modern technology wisely so you can shape your career in any circumstance.”

Addressing mental health concerns, Sister Gloria MPDA highlighted the growing struggles faced by both youth and adults. “To overcome these challenges, one must practice self-reflection and seek guidance from wise individuals,” she advised.

The celebration concluded with a Eucharist presided over again by Archbishop D’Cruze, joined by Father Proloy Agustin Cruze, Archdiocesan Youth Coordinator, and other priests. The archbishop urged the young people to continue radiating hope. “Through your Christian values, journey through life with justice, peace, love, and joy. Be a light of hope not only for yourselves but also for others,” he said.

Participants expressed gratitude for the experience. “I am very happy to have joined this Youth Day,” said Moumita Das. “I gained valuable knowledge that will shape my life. I will share what I learned with my classmates and inspire others to join such programs.”

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
