Cambodia: Church Brings Aid to Displaced People
As tensions continue along the Thai-Cambodian border, the Catholic Church in Cambodia has stepped in to provide much-needed relief to displaced communities.
On July 27, 2025, the Catholic community in Odor Mean Chey, within the Battambang Prefecture, distributed essential supplies to refugees in Oddar Meanchey Province. The aid included 1.5 tons of rice, 60 liters each of soy sauce and fish sauce, 1.6 tons of organic vegetables, 10 cases of canned fish, 30 tents, and various medicines.
The relief operation was carried out in collaboration with the Battambang Runa Organization, according to Jesuit Father Damo Chour of the Battambang Prefecture.
Church leaders and the Catholic community in Cambodia continue to pray for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. They hope the two predominantly Buddhist nations, Thailand and Cambodia, can de-escalate tensions, rebuild mutual trust, and resolve the longstanding issues that have affected their relationship for decades.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
