India: 5,000 Tura Children Join Global Rosary Prayer for Peace
More than 5,000 children from 60 schools in the Diocese of Tura in northeastern India joined the global “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” initiative on October 7, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, praying for peace and children affected by war and violence.
Parishes, schools and religious institutions across the diocese organized communal recitation of the Rosary, uniting the children with participants worldwide in prayer for peace, the needs of the Church and the suffering of humanity.
The international initiative, promoted by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), invited one million children to pray the Rosary during October. Pope Leo XIV supported the campaign and joined children in praying the Rosary at the Vatican on October 1.
Fr. Benjamin, who helped organize the initiative in the Diocese of Tura, said introducing children to the Rosary helps nurture their faith and encourages them to pray for others.
“Teaching children to pray the Rosary is a beautiful way of nurturing their faith from a young age. When children pray the Rosary together, they learn to turn to God with trust and to seek the intercession of Mother Mary, while also praying for peace in the world,” he said.
He expressed hope that the initiative would encourage children to make the Rosary a regular part of their daily lives.
“It is my hope that this simple devotion will become a lasting part of their daily lives,” he added.
The diocesan observance also involved families, teachers, catechists, religious and clergy in encouraging children to develop a life of prayer and concern for people experiencing conflict and suffering.
Through their participation, the children of Tura joined a worldwide prayer campaign that highlights the role of young people in praying for peace and building solidarity with those affected by violence.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
