India: Commission for Women hosts grand Women’s Day celebration in Kannur

The Commission for Women in the Diocese of Kannur in Kerala of south India marked International Women’s Day with a vibrant celebration at Happiness Square, Taliparamba, on March 10, 2025.

Bringing together around 500 women from six foranes, the event highlighted empowerment, unity, and the invaluable role of women in the Church and society.

Bishop Alex Vadakkumthala of Kannur Diocese inaugurated the program, emphasizing the significant contributions of women.

Social activist Dr. Bincy Maria inspired attendees with her address on empowerment and social responsibility, while Vicar General Fr. Clarence Paliath underscored the impact of women in faith, family, and community.

A key attraction was the ‘Mahila Nidhi’ Finance Project Mega Bumper Lucky Draw, raising Indian rupees 1.5 lakh for women’s development initiatives.

Additionally, Fr. Antony Pius unveiled the Year Plan and Pastoral Plan, outlining future programs for women's welfare.

The event also recognized outstanding women through competitions and an award ceremony.

Winners of the Logos Quiz, Christmas Season Good Turn, and Fratelli Tutti Quiz received prizes from Fr. Jacob Jose.

A grand rally through Taliparamba Town symbolized the collective strength and solidarity of women.

The celebration concluded with enthusiasm, leaving a profound impact on all participants.

Organizers expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the event a resounding success.
