India: Srikakulam bishop, priests attend Jubilee for Priests in Rome

A group of priests and their bishop from the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh are attending the Jubilee for Priests in Rome.

Bishop Rayarala Vijay Kumar of the Diocese of Srikakulam is already in Rome along with a delegation of priests in the Vatican.

About 6000 priests and seminarians are attending three jubilee events that are part of the 2025 jubilee year.

The Jubilee of Seminarians took place from June 23 to 24, the Jubilee of Bishops on June 25, and the Jubilee of Priests from June 25 to 27.

Before the main events, Bishop Rayarala, a member of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), led the delegation to visit the Italian Bishops' Conference (CEI), which supports missionary work in many parts of the world. The delegation met Fr. Gabriele, the director of the Italian Bishops Conference.

They also visited the Offices of Propaganda Fide, officially known as the Sacred Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith. It is a department within the Roman Curia and its main function is to oversee and coordinate missionary work and related activities across the globe. At present, it is part of the Dicastery for Evangelization, which was established as part of Pope Francis’ reform of the Roman Curia.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
