Notre Dame University Bangladesh promotes gender diversity

Celebrating International Women's Day, Notre Dame University Bangladesh, a Catholic-run educational institution, utilized technology animation to promote gender diversity on March 9.

The event, which the Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted with Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT), demonstrated the university's dedication to empowering women in the tech sector.

Distinguished guests, including legal luminary Barrister and Advocate Nazmus Salehin, an Associate Professor from Jagannath University's Science and Engineering Department, graced the occasion as guest speakers. Also in attendance were notable figures such as Selina Sharmin, Assignment Editor of DBC News; Nazneen Munni, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education; and Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Head of Sales at Linde Industries Pvt Ltd.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the university organized the "Luna Samsoddoha Programming Contest 2024," which was the highlight of the celebration. This contest aimed to encourage female participation in technology and underscored the university's commitment to gender inclusivity in the tech community.

The main program commenced at 10 a.m., featuring Barrister Najmus Salehin as the main speaker, who emphasized the importance of gender diversity in technology. A roundtable meeting on the theme 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress' facilitated insightful discussions among esteemed participants.

The guests acknowledged and presented prizes to the winners of the programming contest and general knowledge Olympiad. The talented students of the Computer Science and Engineering department presented a cultural extravaganza to conclude the event.

International Women's Day serves as a poignant reminder to empower women and advocate for their equal rights and recognition based on merit. Notre Dame University Bangladesh remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering an environment where students, regardless of gender, can thrive together.
