Pakistan clergy to attend the Jubilee for Priests in Rome

A delegation of priests from Pakistan arrives in Rome for the Jubilee for Priests led by Father Waqas Brian.

A delegation of priests from various parishes across the Archdiocese of Lahore, Pakistan, will attend the Jubilee for Priests in Rome on June 27.

The celebration will feature prayer, pilgrimage, catechesis, and Eucharistic celebrations, culminating in a special Mass with Pope Leo XIV at St. Peter's Basilica.

Led by Father Waqas Brian, the group comprises 12 priests from different parishes across the Archdiocese of Karachi.

The Jubilee for Priests, convened under the guidance of the late Pope Francis, will be a time of spiritual renewal, fraternity, and thanksgiving for the priestly vocation. It will be marked by moments of prayer, pilgrimage, catechesis, and Eucharistic celebration, including a special Mass with Pope Leo XIV at St. Peter’s Basilica on June 27.

“This Jubilee will offer our clergy a precious opportunity to renew their commitment to Christ and the people they serve,” said Archbishop Benny Travas. “It is also a time of grace and unity for priests from all over the world to come together and rediscover the joy of their ministry.”

Travas distributed a kit to the delegation consisting of a cap, an identification card, and a thermos.

He reminded them that they were going as ambassadors of the Archdiocese of Karachi and Pakistan.

He asked priests to pray for him and the people of the diocese during this spiritual event.

The archdiocese invites the faithful to keep the clergy in their prayers and pray for safe travels and spiritual enrichment. While away, parish coverage has been carefully coordinated to ensure the continued pastoral care and liturgical life of the local church.

The Jubilee for Priests is a central part of the Church’s broader Jubilee Year, a tradition that stretches back to biblical times and emphasizes mercy, reconciliation, and renewal.

The priests of the archdiocese will return with renewed vigor to continue their mission of service, rooted in faith and love.

“The Jubilee for Priests is a sacred event taking place in Rome as part of the Universal Church’s celebration of the Jubilee Year,” said Travas.
