St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish in Sargodha, in Pakistan's Punjab province, inaugurated a new Catechism School Office on July 18, providing a dedicated space for catechism classes, teacher meetings, and faith formation programs.
The parish is part of the Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, which serves Catholic communities across northern Pakistan, including Punjab, Islamabad Capital Territory, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The new office was inaugurated by parish priest Fr. David John, who blessed the facility and said it would support the parish's efforts to strengthen catechetical formation for children, youth, and adults.
Following the blessing ceremony, Fr. John met with catechism teachers to discuss the parish's catechetical ministry, including classroom activities, pastoral challenges, and plans for upcoming programs.
He encouraged the teachers to expand their outreach by forming groups for adult catechesis alongside existing classes for adolescents, emphasizing the importance of lifelong faith formation within the parish community.
Referring to the educational approach of St. John Bosco, Fr. John highlighted the value of engaging both young people and adults through practical and community-centered activities. He encouraged catechists to adopt effective teaching methods and to organize sports and other recreational programs that promote teamwork, discipline, and Christian values.
Fr. John also thanked the catechists, volunteers, and parish families whose efforts made the project possible and acknowledged their commitment to strengthening the parish's catechetical ministry.
The gathering concluded with refreshments hosted by Father John for catechists and participants.
Parish leaders said the new Catechism School Office will serve as a center for faith formation, teacher collaboration, and pastoral activities, supporting the continued development of catechetical ministry at St. Francis Xavier Parish.
