Pope names new apostolic nuncio in Pakistan

Monsignor Germano Penemote

Pope Francis has appointed Msgr. Germano Penemote, nunciature counselor, as apostolic nuncio in Pakistan, simultaneously elevating him to the titular see of Treia with the dignity of archbishop.

The news of the appointment was made public on June 16.

Penemote was born in Ondobe, Angola (a southern African nation), on October 24, 1969.

He was ordained a priest on December 6, 1998, and incardinated in the diocese of Ondijiva.

Penemote graduated in "Utroque Iure" (a Latin term that means "in both laws"). It refers to the combination of civil law and canon law. 

He entered the Holy See Diplomatic Service on July 1, 2003, and has served in the apostolic nunciatures in Benin, Uruguay, Slovakia, Thailand, Hungary, Peru, and Romania.

He knows French, English, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. - Santosh Digal
