On September 2, 2025, a group of religious leaders from various faith traditions convened at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art & Culture (PILAC) Auditorium, Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore, to discuss the recent flood situation in Pakistan and explore ways to assist those in need.
“At the Peace Center Lahore, a Dominican-run center, we believe that disaster response is not only about rebuilding houses, but also about rebuilding hope,” said Asher Nazir, Executive Secretary of the Peace Center Lahore. He is also a social activist working to promote peace and interfaith harmony in Pakistan.
“By standing shoulder to shoulder, we show the world that Pakistan’s true power lies in compassion and unity,” he added. “We are called to restore life together in the aftermath of Pakistan’s flood.”
According to him, religious leaders and all people of goodwill, government, NGOs, faith leaders, and community members are called to work hand in hand so that no one is left behind.
“The recent floods in Pakistan have not only washed away homes, crops, and livelihoods, but they have also tested our resilience as a nation,” Nazir said. “Behind every statistic, there is a human face: a mother who lost her shelter, a farmer who lost his field, a child who lost his books.”
“These floods remind us of how fragile life is, and how deeply connected we are to one another. It is time now to be compassionate in action,” he emphasized.
