Sri Lanka: MOU Signed to Launch Radio Maria Sri Lanka in the Archdiocese of Colombo
A significant milestone in Catholic media outreach was marked with the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to launch Radio Maria Sri Lanka in the Archdiocese of Colombo. The event represents a collaborative effort between the Archdiocese of Colombo and the Radio Maria International Office in Rome, aimed at enriching the spiritual lives of Sri Lankans through faith-based radio broadcasting.
The signing ceremony, held on July 24, was imbued with a spirit of unity and mission, bringing together clergy, media professionals, and mission partners committed to evangelization and spiritual nourishment.
Radio Maria, a global Catholic radio network present in over 80 countries, is renowned for transmitting messages of hope, faith, and prayer. The Sri Lankan initiative is expected to deliver spiritual content in local languages, support pastoral ministry, and serve as a platform for catechesis, liturgy, and devotional programs.
A special word of thanks was extended to the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), Sri Lanka, for their crucial support in facilitating this initiative.
This collaboration marks a new chapter in the Church’s communication ministry in Sri Lanka, harnessing modern technology to reach the faithful, especially those in remote and underserved areas, with the Good News.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
