Kolkata’s Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary launched a “Food for All” with the support of AnnBandhu foundation on February 5.

The program is the initiative of Father Franklin Menezes, the parish priest of the Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary.

The inauguration was held in the presence of Mahesh Kumar Sharma, the Councillor of ward no. 42, Burrabazar area in Kolkata.  The Councillor appreciated the initiative as “a ministry of God to feed the poor.”

The program was launched by distributing 140 meals to the area’s poor people.

The program will provide a nutritious vegetarian meal for INR 6.00 (USD 0.08) for six days of the week except on Sundays.

The meals are cooked at a community kitchen run by AnnBandhu foundation and distributed to the feeding centres with the motto “Food for All.”

Bethany Sisters in the parish led a prayer song from Robindra Sangeeth for the inauguration ceremony.

Father Soumitra Makhal, the RVA Bengali Language Service coordinator, was present among the eminent dignitaries for the inaugural function.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
