Christ-Consciousness of self-emptying, achieved through integration of body, mind and spirit, is essential for effective proclamation of Christ in India, said Father Sebastiao Mascarenhas, Superior General of the Society of Pilar in Goa.
Father Mascarenhas was speaking after releasing a book “An Indian Face of Christian Faith,” written by Swami Sachdananda Bharathi in a function at the All-India Mission Seminary (AIMS), Pilar-Goa, on July 16.
Acharyasri Sachidananda Bharati, the author of the book, said that the book is the fruit of 40 years of his search on how to be a disciple of Christ in a multi-religious context of India.
He was once an Indian Airforce Officer known as squadron leader John, who met with a fatal plane crash in 1982. Recovering from the accident, he set on a personal quest for the spiritualization of Christianity.
Bharathi’s new book outline 12 Constituents of the ‘Indian face of the Christian faith’ developed by him over the last four decades. He strongly believes that these Constituents, can become a ‘turning point’ not only in the history of Christianity but also of humanity.
Sachidananda Bharathi advocates an ‘Indian Face of the Christian Faith’ based on the two foundational constituents of ‘Unbound Christ’ and ‘Open Christianity’.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
