Indian Catholic journalist awarded for outstanding local contribution

Pores Aind, a Catholic journalist from Northeast India, received the first NESCOM Journalism Award for contributing towards local journalism for the last 19 years.

North Eastern Social Communication (NESCOM) and the Assam Christian Forum awarded the Guwahati-based journalist, Pores Aind during a special  event held at St. Francis De Sales Auditorium at Narangi Guwahati, Assam on December 15.

NESCOM Journalism Award 2021 recognized Pores Anid's outstanding contribution in the field of journalism.  Anid has been reporting on the concerns of the marginalized, especially the downtrodden Tribal communities, Dalits, Scheduled Caste, Minorities and Adivasis suffering in the Tea Gardens.

Pores Aind, a former vice-president of Signis Northeast, has been a senior journalist with a leading newspaper of North East India, "The Assam Tribune' for almost two decades.

Allen Brooks, the former Chairman of the Assam State Commission for Minorities, said that the NESCOM family, along with Signis India, rejoices and wishes Mr. Pores Aind  a bright future while praying many of our youth will be inspired by him will pick up the pen and aspire to strengthen the 4th Pillar of Democracy. "

Archbishop Emeritus Thomas Menamparampil of Guwahati graced the event along with Bishop Albert Hemron of Dibrugarh, the Chairman of Social Communication for the Regional Catholic Bishops Conference (RCBC) North East India,  Father Sabu Joseph, the Provincial of MSFS, Allen Brooks,  the former Chairman Assam State Commission for Minorities,  Father Tom, the Director NESCOM and a host of dignitaries.

Pores Anid, completed his graduation from DHSK Commerce College in Dibrugarh, Assam. He pursued a Diploma in Mass Communications and Journalism with specialization in Print Journalism from NISCORT, Delhi.  Pores Anid completed his Masters in Mass Communications and Journalism from Guwahati University, Assam in India
