The Salesians of Don Bosco, formally known as the Society of Saint Francis de Sales, in Myanmar announced that it has ordained six new priests on June 24.

The new priests were ordained at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in the compound of the Nazareth Apostolate School, in Anisakan, Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar.

The new priests are:

  • Paul Peter Sai Kaung Si, SDB
  • Aung Ko Myint, SDB
  • Joseph La Htoi, SDB
  • Abele Nee Reh, SDB
  • Clement Yan Naing Tun, SDB
  • Simon Louis, SDB

The ordination was presided by Archbishop Marco Tin Win of Mandalay Diocese with Bishop Lucas Dau Ze, SDB, of Lashio diocese, and Father Bosco Zaya Aung, SDB, the provincial superior of the congregation.

Due to health restrictions and the political situation in the country, only the parents of the newly ordained priests and a few faithful were allowed to attend the ceremony.

Father Bosco Zaya Aung expressed joy and gratitude “over this blessing from the Good Lord for the Salesian Congregation.” - Peter KyiMg/RVA News
