Ask, Seek, Knock

Children of God:
Many people know St. Anthony as the saint who helps find lost items.
When keys disappear or important documents cannot be found, his name is often the first invoked.
Yet his true mission went far beyond locating misplaced objects.
St. Anthony dedicated his life to preaching and guiding people back to God. He helped individuals recover lost faith, broken hope, and troubled peace.
His sermons were simple but powerful, touching both mind and heart. He listened to the struggles of ordinary people and pointed them toward trust in God.
In his own way, he embodied the spirit of “ask, seek, knock.”
He encouraged believers not to give up when searching for meaning.
In the gospel story of Matthew, Jesus urged his listeners to ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7).
He assured them that those who asked would receive, those who sought would find, and those who knocked would have the door opened (Matthew 7:8).
What are our inspirations for today?
First, ask with trust, not with doubt.
Jesus invited his followers to ask confidently (Matthew 7:7).
He presented God not as distant or indifferent, but as attentive and generous.
When Jesus spoke of a father giving good gifts (Matthew 7:11), he emphasized relationship. The disciples were not beggars before a stranger; they were children before a loving Father.
Trust was the foundation of their prayer.
Today, we are invited to examine how we approach God. Do we pray with fear and hesitation, or with childlike confidence?
Asking with trust means believing that God listens even when answers take time.
Second, seek what is lasting, not what is fleeting.
Seeking in the words of Jesus was more than searching for material needs (Matthew 7:7).
It was about longing for what truly matters. It pointed toward values, wisdom, and righteousness.
Seek first the kingdom of God, the kingdom of values, wisdom, and righteousness, and everything else will be added unto you.
Today, we are invited to seek what gives lasting meaning. Success, wealth, and recognition fade.
When we seek God’s will first, other things fall into proper place.
What are you persistently asking God for in your life right now? Are you seeking temporary comfort or lasting transformation? What door might God be inviting you to knock on today?
Children of God:
The promise of Jesus remains alive in every generation.
May each of us endeavor to seek a better, renewed, transformed relationship with God.
May we continue to ask with faith, seek with hope, and knock with love.
