The Cleansing of the Ten Lepers

November 10, Wednesday, 32nd Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Wisdom 6:1-11 & Luke 17:11-19

Suppose we have a glance at people who have a lot of devotions. In that case, many people continue to practice devotions in some popular shrines known for the graces bestowed upon devotees through the intercession of Mary or some other saint, e.g., Our Mother of Perpetual Help or St. Jude.

Suppose a notice was to be put in front of these churches, "No petitions accepted in this church from now on, only prayers of thanksgiving." Undoubtedly, the number of devotees would drop fifty percent of the actual size. For many of us forget to thank the Lord for the favours received from God.

Without a doubt, we remember the Lord more when we need His help and assistance than when we have received the help we need.

In the Gospel, Jesus had healed all the ten lepers, but in their jubilation of being healed, they forget to express their gratitude to the ONE who healed them. A lone Samaritan returns and gives thanks to Jesus.

Let us practice the prayer of gratitude. Let us be grateful for "all things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small," for the Lord God made them all for you. Let us not forget to express our gratitude to the Lord when we have received any favours or help from Him.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
