I am not alone because the Father is with Me

May 22, Monday of the 7th Week of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 19:1-8, Gospel: John 16:29-33

In this passage, Jesus discusses his impending crucifixion and resurrection with his disciples. He tells them they will be dispersed and abandoned, but he will not be alone because the Father is with him. He also tells them that they can find peace in Him because He has conquered the universe.

On one level, it promises comfort and hope for the disciples. Jesus assures them that even though He will be leaving them, He will not abandon them. Jesus himself will be with them in spirit, along with the Father.

This passage can also be interpreted as a theological statement about the essence of God. Jesus asserts that He is coequal with the Father and has conquered the universe. This implies that God is neither distant nor indifferent. He is present in our suffering and will ultimately defeat evil.

It is a powerful reminder of God's love and presence. No matter what we are going through, we can always find peace in Jesus. He is with us always, and He will never abandon us.

We are grateful that God is always with us. Let us acknowledge God's presence amidst our sufferings and failures, believing His comfort will help us overcome the darkness in our lives.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
