December 8, Wednesday, Second Week of Advent
Daily Readings: Genesis 3:9-15, 20, Ephesians 1:3-6,11-12 & Luke 1:26-38

It's the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

"Behold the handmaid of the Lord; Let it be done according to your Word." (Luke 1:38).
With the fall of the first parents, sin upset the plan of God. Instead of being man's associate, the first woman becomes his seductress, and the man reduces her to the role of child-bearer. She has to experience great pain when giving birth.

Full of mercy and forgiveness, God wishes the reverse of the condemnation back to the original state of human beings and the creation. God does not will that His creation, the human being be perished.

For the creation to be renewed, God has chosen Virgin Mary since the moment of her immaculate conception.

The annunciation of Mary took place in Nazareth, a simple location of the people in the province where nobody thought that something extraordinary would take place. In the eyes of sophisticated and worldly people, this has no meaning at all. But these people and the location are suitable persons and places to whom and to which God has chosen to enter this World.

Mary's YES to God made up for the fall of Eve, who refused to be obey and serve God, which entitled Mary to be called the New Eve. Mary is the Mother of God because Jesus is a divine person who has a human and divine nature.

Jesus will be fully human and fully divine since His earthly Mother is Mary. He will be like us in all things but sin. Through His Word and action, He will be the "splendor of the Father."
God does not accomplish His plans of salvation for humankind, not by Himself alone. But with the cooperation of simple people who allow themselves to be the instrument of God's Hands as similar as to His Son.

This time of our preparation for Christmas is a call for us in a unique way to give birth to Jesus in our lives and our surroundings. Like Mary, we are to say YES, an unconditional Yes. It is a time to renew our "Yes" with the help of Mary and Her Example.
