Miracles Happen

Background Music: Panalangin by Mark Anthony Cuevas
    Voiced by: Rose De Jesus

April 12, Friday of the Second Week of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 5:34-42; John 6:1-15

The priests and elders brought the apostles to trial. Some are eager to put them to death but one stood up and shared his analysis, saying that if this is the work of God, you cannot fight God. As a result, the council dismissed them and warned them not to speak in the name of Jesus. But then the apostles continued to preach in the name of Jesus and this time not only in the temple but in many households.

The Gospel for the day is another miracle during the ministry of  Jesus. The multiplication of fish and loaves so that everyone’s hunger was satisfied.

As we observed in both readings, God never abandoned his people. He helped the apostles not to be put to death and he helped the people not to be hungry. God cannot attempt to let his people suffer. He finds ways to help them or even sends a person to be the instrument to intervene.

During the trials, a Pharisee named Gamaliel spoke up and informed the council about the potential consequences of executing the apostles.  In the Gospel, a boy who brought five loaves and two fish became the instrument for satisfying the hunger of the hundreds of people who followed Jesus.

God always finds a way to help his people be out of danger and free from harm.

Lord, may we learn to appreciate your deeds for us. Amen.
