Need to hear the Word of God and practice as the children of God

A newborn baby is welcomed into the Christian fold through the sacrament of baptism. While the church organization accepts an infant born of Myanmar refugee parents with joy, it will not issue the certificate of Baptism.

October 8, Saturday of the 27th Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Galatians 3:22-29 Gospel: Luke 11:27-28

“There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

In our societies, there are many discriminations like poor class, middle class, and elite Class. We prefer to give a good place for the rich. In God’s eye, all are His children and are equal before him. All parents love their children whether they are white or black, bright or stupid. They love their children equally.

In the Catholic Church, there is no place for discrimination. We all are brothers and sisters. Today’s first reading tells us that we all are the children of God.

In today’s Gospel, one woman shouted “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed”. Jesus replied, “Surely blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it as well.”

After receiving baptism, we become the children of God. By baptism, we become the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ but the brotherhood with Jesus cannot guarantee us heaven.

Only those who hear the Word of God and practice will inherit the kingdom of God.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
