The Treasure that can last is Christ

June 23, Friday of the 11th week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings:2 Corinthians 11:18, 21-30; Gospel: Matthew: 6:19-23

What is a treasure for you? Is it things like gold, silver, or some gems? What is your treasure in life? Is it the things that you own? Is it your achievement? What do you consider valuable in your life? Is it your money? What matters in this life?

For Paul, his treasure is Christ. All his sufferings because of proclaiming God's word no longer count as suffering but as something he can boast about. In his weakness, Christ became his strength.

The Gospel invites us to store treasures with God that no moth or rust can destroy. Whatever we earn in this world will perish; our title, achievement, and richness are temporary.  But God offers us Christ to be our very treasure and invites us to store treasure in heaven by doing good deeds towards our brothers and sisters.

Christ is the only treasure that can satisfy our hearts, yet people search for treasure anywhere, but the treasure that can fill our deepest longing is just within us. We just have to discover it and claim it. Remember, the only treasure that can last is Christ.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
